15-16 week Sonogram

I had my first real sonogram today... we could see that the baby is really taking shape.. the spine was clear was day. The sonogram technician said the baby was quite the wiggler... it moved around a ton! Just wait till I can start feeling it move heh.. I'll never get sleep! Despite the baby's constant movement, it never did position itself in a way to make a clear determination of the sex. However, there was one angle of the baby where the technician was able to make a guess. Her guess? A boy! She printed it out the picture for us... and said she believes those are boy parts, but I'll have to wait another couple of weeks or so until they can be more sure, and hopefully by then, the baby will "cooperate" a little better. Personally, I thought those did look like male bits, too. :)

Our little baby was face down for a while, and then he turned around and laid on his back for a while.. we could see his tongue being used to swallow, and heart beating as fast as a bird's. He had tiny little toes and fingers... it was so cute. And when he was on his back, we could see his profile a bit better. According to the machine, I am about 16 weeks and 4 days along... a few days further along than what my due date is going by last menstrual period. And the baby is about 7 or so inches long, weighing in at a whole 6 oz.

We're having so much trouble coming up with boy names... :) That's kind of why I'm hoping we have a girl first, because that name is going to be easier, if not already set in stone. We also thought of naming the baby AFTER it's born, after looking at his/her face... to come up with a more fitting name.

After the sonogram, they finally let me run to the ladies' room and after I took care of business, they weighed me and the nurse said I had lost even more weight, and asked if I had been sick. Nope, I said... just not as hungry as I used to be before I was pregnant. Doc hasn't told me to start gaining any weight yet.. guess it's not a big deal yet.

Welp.. my baby's sexing sonogram got moved to Monday in the morning... fun fun fun. On an unrelated note... sometimes I really miss playing EQ. It almost makes me cry when I listen to some of the music from it. :( What a dork!

Tonight we saw the Dropkick Murphy's live... it turned out being my first punk rock show. And just like you always hear about the crazy stuff that happens at those shows, it happened tonight. Thankfully, we chose to stay towards the back and away from all the hardcore fans, and still got to enjoy the music. I have to say though... I don't think I could ever be a punk rock music fan. The Dropkicks are a bit of punk mixed in with a bit of Irish pride. In fact, right before their first song... all the stage lights were turned off and Sinead O'Connor's version of Foggy Dew was played, all the way through.. it was really awesome to hear it with that kind of system... I'm used to just listening to it in the car--so much quieter. Anyway, the Dropkicks were definitely more tolerable than the hardcore punk band that played before them...so I give them a B+ in my book. They didn't play Rocky Road to Dublin like I had hoped, but they did throw in ONE song I knew, but that was it (Fields of Athenry).I honestly think I'd rather listen to Flogging Molly live rather than the Dropkicks because it's less punk rock. That's just me.

STILL haven't gained any weight =O... in fact... I'm still losing--daily. I eat every day (althought not that much anymore), and take my vitamins... maybe I'm just eating healthier than I used to, and it's helping? I guess Mother Nature isnt' always as cruel as I thought. I think it's the 2nd trimester I'm supposed to be focusing on weight gain anyway. Doc says it's normal to lose weight during the first trimester, and I don't doubt it.

Bittersweet coincidences

We went to the Stars vs Bruins game last night (my treat) and actually got pretty darn good seats. The last time we had decent seats (Round 2 of the playoffs, game 2 against Anaheim), we lost... and this time... we lost again. The two other times we've gone and got cheaper seats, we won. Roar.

Friday Five

1. Do you watch sports? If so, which ones?
Hockey is about the only thing I can tolerate watching... but I can't just watch any two hockey teams go at it.

2. What/who are your favorite sports teams and/or favorite athletes?
The Dallas STARS

3. Are there any sports you hate?
I know this sounds totally un-American of me... but I could care less about golf, football, basketball, and baseball... ZzzzZzzZZZzzz

4. Have you ever been to a sports event?
Uh Yeah... just went to Game 1 of the new hockey season a few days ago, and a couple playoff games from last season!

5. Do/did you play any sports (in school or other)? How long did you play?
I was in gymnastics for a good number of years in my youth.. but that's about it as far as sports. I used to shoot hoops in third grade with the boys, and play soccer with them during recess, but I never really understood the games all the way.

Somehow my froggy escaped and I found him in a closet.. dried up and dead :( It was only last that I last saw him, and now when I think back I should have taken a picture of him. My newt and him got along so well.. they'd sit by each other a lot... or rest their heads on each other's. Yesterday, they were standing next to each other and the frog had one of his hands on my newt's shoulders... and they looked like the best pals.. I wanted to take a shot of that but they had moved once I stared long enough. :( Bye fwoggy :( *sniffle*
