Bye bye OSC :(

So last night was my last night at a department I truly enjoyed working for. They're called the OSC (for Operations Support Center). It was basically like any command center or NOC you've ever seen. That was the group I had wanted to get into for a few years but never had the opportunity until early last year when they finally had an opening. My recruitment company found a business email tech support position for me that was closely related to the OSC and stuck me in there for a while until I could get into the OSC. I really enjoyed the people I worked with.. it seemed like everyone had character... and I never felt uncomfortable going to work there. It wasn't a typical office job with the same routine tasks everyday.. that's probably why I liked it. Anyway... I'm now moving to another group that works closely with the OSC (thankfully) but doing a bit more challenging and draining work as a Unix admin for a group that always seems to be oncall. Even though the job pays more and has more responsibilities... I'll end up working in a cube farm, rather than the cushy, dark room that is the OSC, where you're surrounded by TV's and monitors galore, and the appearance of flourescent lights is a rare occasion. I never thought I'd leave the OSC, but things happen when they happen and it's usually for the best.

Baby Appointment #2

Had my second appointment today. Blood pressure was 110/60, and they took a urine sample. I also lost a couple pounds. The doc took out a little doppler and I had to push my pants down some so he could locate the heartbeat... at first we heard mine... and then we heard the baby's once he found it. It was beating really fast.. like a bird's heart. It sounded so cute!!

Next month, the doc said we'd be doing another sonogram and hopefully determine the sex of the baby... and we'll also get to tape it :) woohoo!

Friday Five

1. Who is your favorite singer/musician? Why?
That's hard to say... I have a lot of favorites.

2. What one singer/musician can you not stand? Why?
Celine Dion - she gives herself way too much credit...and her voice annoys the sh*t out of me.

3. If your favorite singer wasn't in the music business, do you think you would still like him/her as a person?
Depends on what else they were doing

4. Have you been to any concerts? If yes, who put on the best show?
Yes... I would have to say The Polyphonic Spree was the most interesting and unique show I've ever seen.

5. What are your thoughts on downloading free music online vs. purchasing albums? Do you feel the RIAA is right in its pursuit to stop people from dowloading free music?
I think it should be okay to download and sample music online... and if you like it.. buy it. And I wish more individual songs could be available to be sold to you on a customized CD. I say the RIAA needs to get out of people's asses. Start producing more worthwhile music, and people will feel better about buying it. They just don't want to ruin their monopoly. I think I've spent enough money on CD's that I only wanted and liked ONE song off of. We all know CD's cost LESS to make than tapes.. so why are we still paying so much for CD's? It's the 21 century people.. get with it!

Time/Date and Place for wedding/reception set... now to get invites and other things set up. Now I see why it might be nice to hire a planner or coordinator... but I just can't see myself shelling out 200 bux just to have someone do something I am just as capable of doing.

Happy Birthday Sweetheart!!! :) You are now a quarter of a century old! ;p

I've been SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO sleepy lately. 8 hours of sleep is not enough.. I'm needing 8 plus a HUGE nap every day... like 2-3 hours extra if I can fit it in. ZzzZzz....

Weird link a coworker of mine sent me at around 4 in the morning... after a long, and somewhat tiring conference call with a bunch of engineers and technicians that we decided to keep awake for an issue. I imagine this is what they were all seeing in their hallucinations by this time of night :)

Everquest Porn

THERE.. Everquest porn for those of you who seem to be searching the world far and wide for it.

Eversex - A flash animation thing someone made with some soundclips off my EQ sounds page that I can't update anymore. (NOT VERY SAFE FOR WORK)

Friday Five

1. What housekeeping chore(s) do you hate doing the most?
Um.... ALL?

2. Are there any that you like or don't mind doing?
I don't mind doing some weird detailed stuff.. like scrubbing a wall clean, or removing strange gunk from strange places.. as long as it doesn't stink too badly.

3. Do you have a routine throughout the week or just clean as it's needed?
Routine?

4. Do you have any odd cleaning/housekeeping quirks or rules?
Keep aquarium stuff AWAY from the kitchen stuff... EWWW. If you must drain drain water from the fishtank into the kitchen sink... wash that sink thoroughly with super hot water and antibacterial soap afterwards. *shudder* I dunno why but fishtank water and my frog & newt water really gross me out.. even if it looks crystal clear.

5. What was the last thing you cleaned?
Some trash in the kitchen & living room and a counter that the Oxiclean spray bottle exploded on.

Eek... I've lost about 5 lbs since sometime last week. I am occasionally able to eat a full meal... but lately, my fridge has been full of half eaten sandwiches or dinner that I end up throwing away since I know I just won't like eating it. I think the only thing I can really eat is a bunch of veggies that you can dip with ranch or some kind of dip. That's the only thing that doesn't make me queasy to think about. I don't even crave chicken fried steak.. one of my favorite things to eat. Eggs... BLECH.. I used to like em.. but now.. seeing them or thinking about them is nauseating. I still take my vitamins every day... and eat something or another.. but not much. As much as I don't mind a suppressed appetite, I know I'll need to eat more for the baby get everything it needs to grow properly... I hear this changes sometime in the next trimester... we'll see. =D My stepmom said she had a lot of trouble eating in her first trimester too... so maybe I'm not the only one.

I'm having a hard time eating anything. :( I don't throw up.. but nothing seems appetizing. Can't starve the baby, either... what to do!

Hawaiian Weirdness

I have had people ask me if I was this or that, (Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese, Hawaiian, Taiwanese, half-black, etc) but it hasn't happened much in the past month (prolly cuz I've been staying in a lot more). Today, I went to get some pampering done at a spa, and the lady who did my facial asked me if I was Hawaiian, and of course I said no... and then later on in the appointment, I was getting my toes done, and the pedicurist, another woman, (if that's a word) asked me the same thing... if I was Hawaiian. Again, I said no. And then tonight, when I pulled up to the security gate at work... the same little old lady who always takes down my name and license plate # suddenly commented that my last named looked Hawaiian or Polynesian, and that I looked Hawaiian. I politely told her I wasn't.. and she said... well, you look like you might be Hawaiian... and then she got weird and said... so can you teach me how to do this? She suddenly broke out in a hula dance (old lady style)... and I was said... "Sorry to disappoint you, but I can't do that" :) And this was going on while I was in a HURRY to get to work.. I didn't have time to watch some silly security guard hula dance in front of me, especially since I wasn't Hawaiian! Anyway... I thought it was really weird to hear something like that 3 times in one day... guess I need to get out more. I don't look Hawaiian in the least bit... and I sure haven't changed anything about my face lately that would make me look it. I have absolutely nothing in my bloodline that would be considered Hawaiian... not even Japanese (as far as I know). Strange coincidences. I'm sure this happens to lots of Asians though... at least I don't hear "Are you Chinese?" that much anymore. That gets old. Heh.

Out of total random curiousity, I -just- went to Gucci.com to see if they had a line of stuff for babies... and oddly enough.. the image that first shows up when you get to the page is an overly well-dressed man holding a naked baby. I suppose if Gucci DID make something for babies, the baby would have been wearing it, but I still decided to look at their Fall Winter menu anyway (just in case)... and lo and behold -- no baby submenu. Apparently, I should have figured it all out from that picture alone. (they must have a lotta curious pregnant women who visit, haha... and I guess the picture is more polite than putting up a sign that says NO, WE HAVE NO BABY CLOTHES!)

Screencap
Poor baby doesn't have any clothes cuz daddy needs his Gucci garb.
