First Prenatal Visit
So today, we went to my first prenatal visit. They took 3 blood vials to do 8 tests, asked some medical history questions, answered some of my questions, gave me a due date of April 16th, 2004, and gave me a buncha goodies to take home (tons of pregnancy magazines and a book as well). At first they were telling me they usually don't do sonograms until the 16th week.. but I asked if they could do an internal one... and sure enough I got one! According to the size of our little squirt, I'm about 7 weeks and 5 days along. Last night before the doctor's visit I had a dream that the doctor told me I was 7 weeks and 3 days pregnant... close enough! Oh yeah, I even got to see its little heartbeat already!

That's junior! The tiny little whitish bean-looking thing inside the dark gestation sac or whatever it's called :) I'm still trying to learn!

Four home pregnancy tests, and a doctor's urine and blood test can't be wrong

So... I've been on the pill for the past few months or so, and then last month (or pill pack) I didn't have my period when I was supposed to, but I didn't think much of it since I've not had a period on the pill before. The thing was... that whole month, even though I had been just as regular and religious about taking my pill, I felt entirely too hormonal and PMS-y to feel 100% secure. I still ignored it. When I went to go pick up my newest pill pack, I also bought a couple pregnancy tests... and BAM. That's where we are now. Still in disbelief, I bought two more... which still said PREGNANT... so the very next morning I went to the doctor... who confirmed that those tests were in fact, telling the truth. To make a long story short...yes, I am gonna be a first-time mom, yes, I'm going to be a first-time wife, yes, I no longer have as much faith in the pill as I used to, and YES, I know it's supposed to happen the other way around.. I thought that's what the PILL WAS FOR. It's gonna be the shot, next time. :)

Some fudgin' idiot killed 2 of my outdoor seedlings, my only sweet pea plant, and a cosmos seedling... how rude. There were maintenance people outside yesterday who were replacing various wood panels on our patios and for some reason, one of the people working on our's couldn't help but step and crush 2 of my little baby plants. They're seedlings, not WEEDS!

You never realize how unready you are for something until it happens...even if you always said you wanted it.

Antares
On Friday, I took my love out to dinner at the Antares (atop the Reunion Tower in Dallas) to do something a little different. I also felt that it didn't require a special occasion to take my baby out to a nice dinner. It's a very pleasant, rotating restaurant that gives you a good view of Dallas, even if you live there. It was my first time, as well as his, to have eaten there, and we had a great experience. The wait staff was very attentive and helpful, and the food was marvelous. I remember thinking the appetizer prices were really decent for this kind of place, and then we got our appetizer (duck quesadillas), and that's when I realized maybe it wasn't that great of a value. For $7 dollars (I think) we got 2 tiny little quesadillas, both less than half the size of a regular tortilla, and about half an inch thick, if even. They were good, but it was barely enough of a bite to tell if they were THAT good or not. Our meals were both more than enough food, even though the way they were served made it look like much less food. The wine was nice, even though we didn't buy a whole bottle. It's always hard for me to finish any glass of wine, no matter how good it is. Dessert was really good, too... and I had my first piece of starfruit We both enjoyed our selections... I would come back and have my plate again, but, I wouldn't want to spend that much for dinner that often, even if I had gobs of money to spend.
who ever thought i'd get bit by the gardening bug? i must be growing t*ts or something. i've already started my own little garden in front of our townhome... i stuffed it with bulbs of saffron crocus, autumn flowering colchicum, hawaiian tuberose, white flowering shamrock, sweet pea (from seed), and cosmos (also from seed)... now is the tough part... taking care of them and waiting for them to grow. do i really have the patience for this? probably. i'm just a very eager person sometimes, but having a garden full of already growing plants is just not as satisfying.

Friday Five
1. What's the last place you traveled to, outside your own home state/country?
Las Vegas, NV
2. What's the most bizarre/unusual thing that's ever happened to you while traveling?
Hmm.. that has yet to be decided.
3. If you could take off to anywhere, money and time being no object, where would you go?
Ireland, DUH
4. Do you prefer traveling by plane, train or car?
It's a toss-up between cars and planes. I get way nervous on planes, though I tend to keep it to myself... but going through that every single time I'm in the air drives me nuts. I don't mind trips in the car as long as they're not too long... and if I'm not driving, I love sleeping in the car.
5. What's the next place on your list to visit?
Let's see...... I'm not sure yet... plans for Ireland next year are still in the works... depends on finances and vacation time.
