Feline Diabetes

Okay... so last week we found out one of my cat has diabetes. She's 7 years old... never had any other health problems, and suddenly she has diabetes. We've never had any experience treating anyone with diabetes so this was going to be a new thing for us.

The vet bill to get her glucose level down to a reasonable level and for keeping her up there for about a week was 440 bux. Ouch.. and that's not including buying 51 bux in insulin and syringes. Her prescription food is going to cost $1.18 a tiny ass can... and we'll be feeding her a whole can each day and also part of another 1 dollar can of food that adds flavor.

You know what this sounds like to me? a NEW bill! And I didn't ask for it. When the hell am I ever going to catch up with all the things I want to be able to pay off or pay for. It always seems like a new financial situation comes up as soon as I think I'll be able to manage to live off what I have. What would life be w/o bills anyway? :P

Oh well... in the end, it'll be worth it. We'll still have the company of our sweet little kitty... and we're not going to feel like guilty bastards since we didn't decide to put her down or put her up for adoption.

Office Chairs
Holy Cow... I just found the office chairs we use up here -- well they look almost exactly like them, so maybe not the EXACT same model #. They're amazingly comfortable and ergonomic... but I do NOT agree that they are worth *that* much. From what I was told by one of my coworkers, our company paid about $200 less for each chair than that price. They're not even leather! Geesh! And I'm sure these aren't even the best office chairs out there... how can companies afford to blow so much money on chairs??

EXOTIFY

So does my black hair make you quiver?
Does my tiny body
Make your erection linger?
Do the slant of my eyes
Finally reveal the truth in disguise?
When you gaze at me admiringly
The yellow skin tantalizing thee
Do you feel the blood rush
As I cast my eyes upon ye?

And when you look enticed
I feel like I'm about to break
And the looks in your eyes
Make me feel like ripping you inside
When the words escape your mouth
The words I've always dreaded
"I like o-reee-en-tuhl woman"
I freakin' want you beheaded!

Docile, fragile
Innocent sweet
The sweet masseust, the innocent schoolgirl
The Import Queen
That keeps you in heat
The silent geisha, the porno queen
That feed your yellow fantasies

My black hair
My almond eyes
My brown or yellow skin
Exotified
The culture I was born to
The language that I speak
Is nothing more to you
Than a commodity

My body, your trophy
My soul, you desire to own
Your people you condemn
Cause you perceived them not
To have that weakness
That you think is our own

But lo and behold
Oh sufferer of the Yellow Fever
The ladies won't intoxicate you
And let this chill linger
She shall crush your hopes
Of perceived docility
She shall speak, stand up
And extinguish your fantasies

So before you desire
To run that bigoted tongue
On a yellow woman's skin
Be warned, be alert
It's not our looks...
But it's our spirit
That can kill...

Another Link Around the Office...
This one fit in PERFECTLY while we were watching Rollerball hahah! We all turned up our volume and it fit seamlessly with the racing scene we were watching.

Some Things Are Beyond Reason

Here's a link that's been going around the office for the past couple of days. It's highly likely you've seen it, too -- links seem to have their popular moments. *Requires Shockwave* Peanut Butter Jelly Time.

Isn't it goofy? It kind of reminds me of something the 69 Boyz would sing.... or something a couple guys came up with one day when they were stoned off their asses. You be the judge. I wish there was more silly stuff like this out there.

R.I.P. :: Big Bird - 1998 - 2002 =(

A couple days ago, our very sweet handraised budgie/parakeet named Big Bird passed away after 4 short years. We aren't sure why... but his well-being had definitely started to go downhill since his buddy, Sonny, flew away a few months back. He looked so sad and still... I cried. I know there was a lot I could have done... I'm still very bummed.

After his buddy had left, Big Bird became very withdrawn and would be scared of us everytime we'd reach in to change his food. He never bit, as he was handraised, but he was very paranoid, even after handling him for over an hour.

Chris and I stayed up all night that night and bought stuff to create a casket for him. We couldn't find a single tin that didn't mention Easter on it, so we settled on a small but very sturdy looking Rubbermaid tupperware tub. Chris spray-painted it white, and then lined the inside with yellow felt. We wrapped Big Bird in white felt, and laid him next to a yellow stuffed toy duck so he wasn't lonely. Chris and I wrote little sentimental notes to Big Bird, and put in a picture of the both of us in the casket. On the lid of the casket, we glued and sealed a color pencil drawing I made of Big Bird. Then we closed the lid, and sealed it with superglue and silicone glue to keep out the bugs (for a while at least). We haven't found a good spot to bury him yet, but I'm thinking we should bury him near a tree in the yard. It probably sounds so childish that we went that far to make a casket for him like that, but I feel like we owed it to him.

I know that the Bible pretty much says animals don't have souls, but I sincerely hope Big Bird is in a better place now. I wish he could have stayed with us longer... he was such a nice guy and never gave us any trouble. He's the first pet that Chris and I have ever had to deal with the death of, so I can only imagine what it will be like for our other animals.

I miss you, Big Bird...
