I could not have said it better than Joolie...

not my words... Joolie's words

"but yeah, you know what i hate? (no offense to filipinos..) i hate "typical asians". the "wiggity wassupers, you called it up to the fantastik-pinay up on this biatch. drop me a mutha-fuckin message, and i'll git chu back on the nine double one quickity quickness, aite? aite then peace in da middle east.." girls.. oh lardy... you people are sorry.. and those guys who spend their whole life's savings to fix up their already-ugly cars and trying to pimp girls at the import shows or night races in chinatown. it is NOT cute. with your nasty, crusty-ass shoes n shit.. better go shoppin for some decent looking clothes instead of investing your money on that damn hoopty ride you've got. *smile* "

Well I wouldn't have been exactly as harsh, but I totally know what's she's talking about. I don't know why there is still this cult following of young Asians that follow this weird trend of acting ghetto and uneducated. Is this the rebellion of Asian youths who are tired of having that "smart Asian nerd" stereotype? I do believe in everyone having the right to be however they want to be, but doesn't that mean you should be a little bit original? I feel like some of today's Asian hip-hopsters have ripped off of the whole rapper style trend and added Chinese lettering to it. Is it racist of me to be critical of my own race? I hope not... I am just concerned.. concerned that young Asians are finding confidence in themselves the wrong way. What ever happened to preppy Asians that speak proper English? Is that not an "IN" thing anymore?
