What is Wrong With PEOPLE?

As if you didn't know this already... DON'T go to Yahoo! if you're looking for intelligent discussion on a news story such as the Rwandans who were prosecuted for war crimes (involving about a million people who were massacred in the name of genocide).

One would think you would see some brainy political talk on the board, but I'd say close to 95% of the messages are PURE FLAMES. I don't think news stories as serious as this one should be excuses for people to say stupid and meaningless racist/hateful crap. It was hard to find a readable post in there amongst so many messages by immature, bigot-minded people. All the intelligible messages might as well have been a waste, because I don't think anyone on there cared about them.

The same thing happened on the Blockbuster settlement news story, too. Most people were flaming back and forth about nonsense. A lot of the posts were basically hollering at the people who return movies late (like myself) and saying that if they didn't want to pay late fees, don't return the movies late. I don't think that was what the lawsuit was about. It was about the fact that Blockbuster was overcharging for their late fees. It wasn't an issue about whether they should have late fees or not.

Anyway, at least you can ignore posts by specific users... but there are way too many to deal with so you might as well not read the boards. It reminds me of their stock message boards... now THOSE are ridiculous. Most of the time they're flames, and the rest of the time, it's usually SPAM, even though the subject line indicates that the message is about the particular stock symbol.

So even though Yahoo! is one of the most popular places people visit, why can't people maintain some common decency to be reasonable and realistic on their message boards? Doesn't it get tiring to make a bunch tiny little posts that don't have any thought put into them or dog people you probably wouldn't even confront in real life? Then again, probably most of the people who post are angsty teenagers or adults that have their own personal issues and take their frustration out on the net. I guess that could be better than them letting out their steam in real life.

I don't understand why so many people are angry and immature...
