Dance Dance Revolution

Of course, since I live in the middle of nowhere... I only learn of fads and trends much much later after all the cool kids on the West and East coasts have already had their fun with it. "Dance Dance Revolution" is a new game that I think is a perfect alternative for kids who don't want to get involved in sports, but still want to stay in shape.

It involves playing on top of a large "joystick" that you control with your feet by dancing and attempting to score points by hitting the appropriate spots on the platform. This article has some cool Dance Dance Revolution video clips from Tech TV's TV version of the article. The article describes the music as "cheesy techno" and from what I saw and heard on TV.. it was pretty cheesy... the kids were dancing to it so well that it made the music sound good.

It looks like such a positive thing for kids and teens. It encourages them to get in shape, and learn how to dance, and definitely to get over stage fright. A lot of the kids they interviewed said they lost a lot of weight from just playing it. Before I even attempt to try this out, I am surely going to practice at home or get some pointers from some friends first. :P
